Clay Kelley has been in the human resources outsourcing (HRO) and professional employer organization (PEO) business since 1985. Starting as a sales producer, he sold over 100 accounts in his first three years and was promoted to VP of Sales.
Clay has served as a sales executive for three HR outsourcing service providers, participated in multiple mergers and acquisitions, and trained thousands of outsourcing sales professionals.
Clay is the most published author of sales articles in industry trade journals. In 1993, he published the first book on selling PEO: Success in Selling PEO. He published Jump Start to Success in Selling PEO in 1999 and Managing for Success in Selling PEO in 2008.
Clay has created multiple training programs dedicated to increasing the confidence and competence of HRO salespeople. In 1999, he launched Training Camp for Success in Selling PEO. In 2014, Clay launched the first online training program in the HRO/PEO space: The Clay Kelley HR Outsourcing Sales University (The U).
Clay holds the distinguished SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resources Management – Senior Certified Professional) designation, the highest professional designation attainable from the Society for Human Resources Management. He served on the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020.
Clay and his wife Brandee live in Arlington, Texas where they serve on multiple boards and committees.
